Our Facilities

Blue Sky is on a ½ acre site located on Market Weighton Business Park. We have a large car park for the use of the staff and parents with 5 designated parent drop of spaces located adjacent to the building, giving parents safe and easy access to the building. The children have access to an range of outdoor play areas, including a play garden for each care room, a village of Wendy houses accessed from the bicycle track, a gardening area and big bit for free running and climbing altogether the children have access to over a quarter of an acre of safe and secure space in which they can play, learn and explore. The nursery itself is bright and cheerful, as it was purpose designed and built as a nursery it offers all the facilities needed by children. The nursery has the following rooms:

• The administration office, where the children's information is securely stored.
• The nursery kitchen, where our cook prepares the fresh meals each day.
• The Pixies, where our babies are lovingly cared for in a home from home environment.
• The Imps, where our toddlers are encouraged in their growth and learning through free play.
• The Elves, where our Pre-School children are helped to prepare for school through gentle encouragement.
• The Sprites, where our Out of School children are given the freedom to play and let off steam when not at school.
• The Soft Play, where mums and dads can meet and chat over a coffee and home cooked food whilst their children can play.

Each room has a large range of equipment which they can freely access to help them have new experiences and explore their world and the bigger world all done through play and fun. All children have access to both nappy changing and their own toilets depending on their needs.

Our Team

The Blue Sky team are all dedicated childcare professionals who bring a wide range of skills and experience to the nursery. Every staff member loves children and finds fulfilment from playing with them and helping them learn and develop in a loving environment. The Daily operation is overseen by the Nursery Manager, in her absence our baby room Supervisor deputises. Each of our four rooms has a Supervisor, an experienced childcare worker who supervises their team and ensures the children have a varied range of experiences. Each room also has a dedicated team of qualified Nursery Nurses and Nursery Assistants who work with the children Every child at Blue Sky has their own Key-worker, a team member who makes the care of their key children the centre of their day ensuring they have activities they enjoy and also meeting their personal needs.

Our Menu

At Blue Sky meal times are social occasions where the children and staff sit together to eat and talk. All meals are freshly prepared each day by our nursery cook and we aim to provide a healthy balanced diet with strong emphasis on fruit and vegetables. During the day we offer the following meals:

• Breakfast- 8:00 – 8:30.
• Morning snack.
• Lunch – 11:45.
• Afternoon tea – 4:00

Children have free access to water throughout the day and are offered milk as an alternative at each meal.

Care and Education

At Blue Sky we follow the national curriculum for learning and development, this is called The Early Years Foundation Stage. The EYFS is a method for interacting with the children whilst watching them play in order to develop an understanding of what the children enjoy playing with, can do and might like to learn next. This information is then used to come up with exciting ideas for activities the children can take part in to move onto the next step of their learning journey. At Blue Sky we take huge amounts of photographs of the children which go into the children’s files showing each of their learning journeys, these files are always available for parents to look through. Photos and artwork are regularly sent home to parents so that they know what their children have been doing during the day.
